SAVANNAH, GA (April 1, 2011): Two teen-aged girls were treated for injuries this morning after they were struck by a pickup truck as they tried to cross a street to meet a school bus.
Lashanda Waltour, 17, of the 500 block of Emerald Drive and Christina Ferman, 15, of the 100 block of West Broad Court were treated at Memorial University Medical Center and released after the 6:32 a.m. accident.
Savannah-Chatham Metropolitan Police Central Precinct officers cited Januario A. Maocha, 54, of the 900 block of Moray Street, for failure to use due care and having an open container. He was driving a 1997 Chevrolet pickup southbound on Ogeechee Road when the two girls crossed in front of him to meet an arriving school bus.
