SAVANNAH, GA (May 2, 2017) The Savannah-Chatham Metropolitan Police Department is investigating crash involving a pedestrian on Laroche Avenue.
At 3:10 p.m. on Tuesday May 2, 2017,SCMPD responded to a report of an accident with injuries at Laroche Avenue near Spartan Drive. A pedestrian was struck by a vehicle. It was initially believed the pedestrian was suffering from severe injuries and the SCMPD Traffic Investigation Unit (TIU) and Forensics responded to the scene.
The driver of the car did not leave the scene.
At the hospital it was determined that the pedestrian’s injuries were non-life threatening and were not as severe as originally believed. Laroche Avenue was closed for about an hour but has since re-opened.
The crash remains under investigation by TIU.
