SAVANNAH, GA (December 30, 2015): Savannah-Chatham Metropolitan Police Department’s Violent Crime investigators arrested Edwin Fripp, 20, and a juvenile in connection with an armed robbery and recovery of a stolen vehicle, Tuesday evening.
Just before 11:30 p.m. Metro responded to reports of an armed robbery on the 3300 block of Ogeechee Road. An adult male victim was outside of his residence when a black male wearing a grey hoodie approached him and robbed him at gunpoint. The suspect then entered the passenger side of a silver 2013 Chevy Impala and fled the scene.
Shortly after, West Chatham Precinct patrol officers spotted the vehicle and attempted a traffic stop. The vehicle fled. Metro officers followed the vehicle until it crashed into a wood line near Dean Forest Road and Highway 17. The suspects fled on foot into the woods where they were quickly apprehended.
Investigators learned the vehicle was stolen. The owner of the vehicle was contacted.
Fripp was taken to the Chatham County Detention Center without incident. He is charged with one count of armed robbery, one count of possession of a firearm during commission of a crime, one count of theft by receiving auto and unrelated warrants. The juvenile was taken to the Savannah Regional Youth Detention Center and is charged with party to the crime of armed robbery.
This case remains under investigation.
