SAVANNAH, GA (January 3, 2013): A man who robbed a bank in Savannah’s south side today is suspected of robbing another bank in the same area Dec. 18.
FBI and Metro police are searching for the man who robbed the Colony Bank in the 7000 block of Hodgson Memorial Drive this morning.
The robber walked in the bank about 9:22 a.m., produced a dull grey handgun and demanded money from a teller. After receiving the money, he ran from the bank on foot.
Savannah-Chatham Metropolitan Police patrol officers, canine officers and police helicopter Eagle One searched the area but have not yet found the suspect. No one was injured.
The suspect is described as a thin black male, 5-8 to 5-11 with a medium complexion. He was wearing a dark blue skull cap, dark blue hooded, zip-up jacket, black or dark blue jeans and black combat boots. He wore a white bandana with blue designs on it around his face.
FBI investigators have identified similarities in today’s robbery and the robbery of the First Chatham Bank in the 7400 block of Hodgson Memorial Dec. 18. In that robbery a man with a similar description used a handgun to force a teller to turn over money and ran through the neighborhood.
