SAVANNAH, GA (February 27, 2013): A 24-year-old Savannah man has been charged with murder for a shooting that left one man dead and his brother in critical condition Nov. 14.
Christopher Alexander Johnson of a Garrard Avenue address was arrested on a murder warrant drawn by Savannah-Chatham Metropolitan Police homicide detectives Wednesday. He also has been charged with aggravated assault.
He is charged with shooting the two brothers in their residence in the 700 block of West 49th Street.
Maurice Antwan James, 25, was declared dead at Memorial University Medical Center where Josh Detrimis James, 30, was hospitalized in critical condition. Josh James has survived his wounds.
Johnson and both victims have extensive records with Savannah-Chatham Metropolitan Police.
Johnson was most recently released from Hays State Prison after serving seven months of a two-year, six-month sentence for possession of cocaine and obstruction. He had served two other prison terms.
Homicide detectives continue to investigate the shootings.
