SAVANNAH,GA ( May 7, 2012) Emergency crews have disrupted traffic on Heatherwood Drive at Shamrock Circle on Savannah’s Southside after construction crews broke through a gas main.
Traffic is blocked at the southern intersection of the two streets as gas company employees work to cut off the gas main off Montgomery Crossroads.
Southside Fire and Savannah-Chatham Metropolitan Police are asking people to stay in their houses and avoid the area until the gas is turned off.
A brisk wind is eliminating the need to evacuate houses at the moment but that could become a necessity if the wind dies down.
