SAVANNAH,GA ( May 14, 2012) A 3-year-old Chinese Shar Pei has been destroyed after attacking a 7-year-old Savannah boy Sunday.
Ebine Griffin was transported to Memorial University Medical Center for treatment after the dog leapt from the window of a car and attacked him. The child had been walking across a parking lot at a Burger King on White Bluff Road. He received a severe gash to his thigh and several bites to his leg and arm.
The dog was in the back seat of a car driven by his owner, Scott Reynolds, of Garden City, when he saw the child and jumped out of the window. The owner, his wife and a witness pulled the dog from the child. It was the second time the dog had been involved in such an attack.
Reynolds was charged after the attack with having a dog at large. He also faces similar charges in Garden City from a Feb 17 incident there.
The dog was surrendered to Savannah-Chatham Metropolitan Police Animal Control Sunday. Today he was humanely destroyed as a dangerous animal.
