SAVANNAH, GA (November 28, 2011): The body found floating in the Savannah River Saturday has been identified as that of a 49-year-old Garden City woman.

Anna Runelle Smart of Nassau Woods in Garden City was identified during the investigation after her body was pulled out of the river about 5:40 p.m. Saturday.

The autopsy revealed no injuries or foul play at the moment but Savannah-Chatham Metropolitan Police are awaiting results of the drug and alcohol tests before announcing the cause of death.

Friends and family members reported last seeing the woman last Monday. Two fishermen noticed the body floating in the river near the Chatham-Effingham county lines. A Coast Guard boat took the body to the Houlihan boat landing.

The investigation is continuing into the death.
