SAVANNAH, GA. (December 6, 2013): Drivers in the Downtown area trying to cross the Talmadge Memorial Bridge into South Carolina will face a detour Saturday as the annual Enmark Savannah Bridge Run takes place.
While most of the bridge itself will be open, the Oglethorpe Avenue entrance will be closed from 8 a.m. until about noon as runners cross the bridge on the far right, northbound lane.
Traffic already on U.S. 17 will be able to cross but vehicles from Downtown will be detoured to Derenne Avenue and Lyons Parkway (Interstate 516) to access the traffic patterns.
Savannah-Chatham Metropolitan Police also will close parts of Oglethorpe, Broughton, Montgomery and Habersham streets as runners pass.
Police encourage drivers to use patience and allow themselves extra time to navigate the area.
