SAVANNAH, GA (February 8, 2016): Violent Crimes detectives of Savannah-Chatham Metropolitan Police Department have initiated an investigation into the death of an unidentified male whose body was found Sunday evening in a drainage ditch on 1900 block of East Montgomery Cross Road.
Sunday, at about 6:10 p.m., Metro officers responded to the scene after passersby reported seeing what appeared to be a body in the ditch. Preliminary investigation reveals no obvious signs of foul play. The Georgia Bureau of Investigations Crime Lab will conduct an autopsy on Monday, Feb. 8 to determine the cause of death.
Metro’s Criminal Investigations Division, Patrol and Forensics units responded to the scene. The Chatham County Coroner also responded.
The deceased is a white male in his late 20s to early 30s. He was wearing a camouflage jacket, blue shirt, shorts and boots.
This investigation continues.
