SAVANNAH, GA (December 1, 2014): Savannah-Chatham Metropolitan Police are investigating two holiday weekend crashes between cars and motorcycles that sent three victims to a hospital.
Ryan Adam Selgren, 33, of Savannah, was transported to Memorial University Medical Center and was being held for observation Friday after the 2009 Harley Davidson motorcycle he was riding collided with the rear of a stopped car on Abercorn Street at Rio Road.
The motorcycle struck the rear of a 2008 Nissan Altima that had stopped for another car that was switching lanes and had blocked traffic about 2 p.m. Friday.
Daniel Ra’Shun Middleton, 35, of Savannah, was charged with driving under the influence, failure to yield while turning left and serious injury by motor vehicle after a 10:23 p.m. Saturday crash at West Broughton Street and MLK Jr. Boulevard.
Terence Strong, 46, of Columbia, SC, who was riding the 2006 Suzuki motorcycle, and Leon Jamal Corey, 31, of Savannah, a passenger in the car, were transported to Memorial. Both were listed in stable condition.
Officers with the Metro Major Accident Investigation Team (MAIT) determined that Daniel Middleton was driving south on MLK in a Nissan Altima and turned left onto Broughton Street into the path of the motorcycle that was traveling north on MLK.
MAIT continues to investigate both crashes.
