MAN CHARGED WITH MURDER IN WOMAN’S DEATH
SAVANNAH, GA (October 22, 2012) A Savannah man has been charged with murder in the death of a woman found in a burning car Sept. 30.
Shan Demetrius Cheley, 36, who lives in the Skidaway Road-Eisenhower Drive area, was charged in the death of Amber DeLoach, 18.
Cheley has been detained in the Chatham County Detention Center on other charges since Oct. 4 as Savannah-Chatham Metropolitan Police homicide detectives pored through forensic evidence. He was held on contempt of court charges and possession of cocaine.
The investigation suggests that Cheley and the woman met each other the night before her body was found in the car which had been set afire in Yamacraw Village.
SCMPD Police Chief Willie Lovett complimented the intensive police work by his detectives and forensics unit that led to the arrest.
