SAVANNAH, GA (April 5, 2017) The Savannah-Chatham Metropolitan Police Department ,along with the Southeast Fugitive Task Force (SRTF), located and arrested two suspects charging them with the October 2015 murder of Marlon Jamal Underwood, 22.
On Wednesday, Apr. 5, SRTF located Mylek Bigham, 26, in a Jacksonville, FL hotel. He was taken into custody without incident. The second suspect, Anthony Martin, 22, was located at a correctional facility in Monroe County, Georgia. The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office assisted in serving Martin his warrant. Both Martin and Bigham are awaiting transport to Chatham County.
On October 4, 2015, Metro officers responded to the El Cheapo gas station on the 800 block of Tibet Avenue at approximately 7:15 p.m., finding shooting victim, Marlon Jamal Underwood. He succumbed to his injuries after being transported to the hospital.
“In this case, Detective Christopher Ross’ diligence and relentless pursuit of gathering evidence and chasing down leads in the open homicide cases assigned to him have paid off,” said Violent Crimes Sergeant, Hiram Rivera. “Although it has been over a year, it is never too late to solve a homicide, hold the suspect(s) accountable for their actions and ultimately provide some closure for the victim’s loved ones.”
