SAVANNAH, GA (July 8, 2011): An 18-year-old Savannah man has been charged with a felony and three misdemeanors after invading a house, roughing up two women there, and taking items, including a gun.
Kevin Nijahjuan Moore was charged Thursday with armed robbery, obstruction, criminal trespass and theft after the June 27 invasion in the 1300 block of East 39th Street.
Police were alerted by a neighbor about 8:18 p.m. that two men seemed to be attempting to break into the house and arrived to find suspects matching that description walking in the middle of nearby Ash Street. When police pulled up, Moore sprinted through back yards, over one fence into a second one that snapped and fell, throwing him to the ground. Patrol officers finally caught him on 39th Street.
At the house, two 16-year-old females told police Moore had entered the house through an unlocked door, brandishing a rusty handgun. He pulled the hair of one on them and struck the other before announcing he was going to look through the house to find something to take. Both declined medical treatment for their injuries.
Among the items taken was a pistol that belonged to a resident of the house. No gun was recovered.
