SAVANNAH, GA (February 25, 2014): Violent Crimes Detectives for the Savannah-Chatham Metropolitan Police Department took one suspect into custody; but another remains at large after a home invasion on Savannah’s southside early Friday morning.
Just after 12:30 a.m., Metro responded to reports of a home invasion at Edgewater Trace Apartments on 10000 block of Abercorn Street.
At 11:20 p.m. Friday, Corey Peoples, 26, of the 9400 block of Whitfield Avenue, was arrested for the crime during a traffic stop on Truman Parkway. A gun believed used in the incident was recovered. Peoples is charged with theft by receiving stolen property (firearm), possession of firearm by convicted felon, armed robbery, first degree burglary and theft by taking.
Metro investigators continue their search for the second suspect, described as a black male in his early 20s, standing between 5-4 to 5-6 and weighing 275 to 300 pounds. During the incident he wore dark clothing.
