SAVANNAH, GA (May 7, 2011): Two 17-year-olds have been charged with armed robbery and investigators are looking at other cases after the robbery of a Savannah woman in her garage Saturday afternoon.
Dakembe Hargrove of the 1600 Block of Habersham Street and Nicholas Miller of Yamacraw Village were arrested after A Downtown Precinct detective and patrol officers spotted them walking on West Boundary Street.
The pair had walked into the garage where the woman was in the 300 block of West Jones Street about 4 p.m. and had pointed a gun, robbing her of cash. A quick-responding officer broadcast a detailed description of the two teenagers, who were immediately spotted by the detective.
He called in backups and approached the pair. Miller stopped and was taken into custody. Hargrove ran into Yamacraw Village, tossing the backpack he was carrying behind a dumpster and hiding in an apartment.
Police evacuated the woman and two children living in the apartment and Hargrove then surrendered. A pellet gun resembling a pistol was found in the backpack.
The investigation is continuing.
