Applications for sworn police officers are accepted on an open, continuous basis.
CITY OF SAVANNAH MINIMUM APPLICATION STANDARDS
- U.S. Citizen
- 21 Years of Age
- High School Diploma or GED Certificate
- No Felony or Serious Misdemeanor Convictions
- Vision Corrected to 20/20 with Normal Color Vision
- Valid Driver’s License
*** Of note, there is no maximum age cap at this time.
The Application Process
Please follow the steps below carefully and completely. Failure to complete any of the steps as instructed may result in your application being rejected.
STEP 1 – Please be prepared to upload a clear, PDF electronic copy of the documents listed on the “Instructions to the applicant” document before clicking the submit button of the online application. Additionally, please contact your educational institutions (both high school and college, if applicable) to request that an official, sealed transcript be mailed to our office. The transcripts need to be mailed to: Savannah Police Department, Attn: Recruiting Unit, 201 Habersham Street, Savannah, GA 31401.
STEP 2 – Access the City of Savannah online application for “Sworn Police Officer” found here.
NOTE: Georgia Residency is NOT required during the application phase to be considered for employment.
STEP 3 – Your completed on-line application will be reviewed by the SPD Recruiting Unit once it is received. If you are an eligible applicant, a member of the unit will send you an e-mail with information about testing dates. Please read and follow all instructions in the e-mail.
