SAVANNAH, GA (July 2, 2013): A Savannah woman was charged today with the false report of a crime after she told police her car had been stolen soon after it was found wrecked.
Sylvia Annette Johnson, 30, of the 1100 block of East Bolton Street, was arrested Monday by Savannah-Chatham Metropolitan Police.
She had reported June 8 that her 2002 Chevrolet Monte Carlo had been stolen from her residence after she had parked it there at 10 p.m. the night before and taken the keys with her.
The car, however, had been abandoned after a 7 a.m. wreck in the 1200 block of East 31st Street, six blocks away. The keys were found in the wrecked car.
