Update: This morning, Savannah-Chatham Metropolitan Police Department’s Violent Crimes detectives arrested a 12-year-old male in connection to this incident.
Reportedly, the incident occurred outside of a residence in the 800 block of W. 50th Street. The victim and the suspect were not previously acquainted.
The suspect is charged with involuntary manslaughter and was transported to the Regional Youth Detention Center.
Circumstances surrounding this incident remain under investigation.

SAVANNAH, GA (October 5, 2016): Savannah-Chatham Metropolitan Police Department’s Violent Crimes detectives are investigating a shooting that claimed the life of a 6-year old boy.
Metro responded to the 800 block of W. 50th Street at approximately 2:59 p.m., finding the victim shot. He was transported to Memorial University Medical Center where he succumbed to his injuries.
Investigators are currently following and working active leads. However, detectives are asking anyone with any information about this incident to come forward.
This case remains under investigation.
