SAVANNAH – U.S. Marshals arrested Malikye Jalyn Heyward, 18, in connection with the Sept. 7, 2023 fatal shooting at W. 32nd Street and Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd.
“I want to thank both our investigators and the U.S. Marshals,” said Lenny B. Gunther, Savannah Police Chief. “Our officers and the marshal’s tenacity and professionalism in this case is laudable.”
On the evening of the homicide, SPD responded to the scene and discovered an unconscious person lying on the ground. The victim succumbed to his injuries at the hospital. Heyward was taken into custody on Oct. 28by the U.S. Marshals. He has been charged with murder and aggravated assault.
