SAVANNAH, GA (December 15, 2018) – Savannah Police’s Traffic Investigation Unit is investigating an afternoon crash that resulted in injuries to two Atlanta residents.
About 3:30 p.m. today Benjamin Schoefield and Andreina Icaza, both 29, of Atlanta, were crossing the eastbound lanes of Liberty Street at Barnard Street in the crosswalk when they were struck by a vehicle. The Honda Accord, which was driven by 29-year-old Courtney Mitchell, of Savannah, had been traveling south on Barnard Street. She stopped at the stop sign in the median and then made a left turn onto Liberty Street, striking the pedestrians.
Both pedestrians were transported to Memorial Medical Center for treatment. Schoefield suffered serious injuries. Icaza suffered minor injuries.
