SAVANNAH, GA (July 4, 2018) – Savannah Police’s Traffic Investigation Unit (TIU) is investigating a crash that resulted in an individual being seriously injured last evening.
On July 3 at around 10:00 p.m., officers responded to a crash on Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard and Henry Street. An investigation determined that Charles Steplight, 51, driving a moped, was making a left turn on W. Henry Street onto southbound Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard when he was struck by a Ford Focus driven by Carly Harris, 23. Harris was traveling north when she failed to stop at a red traffic signal and struck Steplight.
Steplight was ejected from the moped and sustained serious injuries. He was transported to an area hospital. This crash is continues to be investigated by the TIU.
