WOMEN, CHILD STRUCK BY CAR ESCAPE SERIOUS INJURY
SAVANNAH, GA (March 2, 2011): Two Savannah women and a 6-year-old girl escaped serious injury after they walked into the path of a car on MLK Jr. Boulevard Wednesday.
Bertha King, 58, Ashley Miller, 23, and Jakayla MIller, 6, were treated at Memorial University Medical Center after they were struck by an SUV driven by Robert Plummer, 93, about 1 p.m.
Sgt. Anthony Gallo of the Savannah-Chatham Metropolitan Police Major Accidents Investigation Team said the trio had exited a bus and were crossing MLK at least 20 feet from the crosswalk at Gaston Street. The SUV was traveling North and had a green light.
