The Savannah Pre-Apprentice Program not only offers training and education for local youth, but it also provides a service for the City of Savannah.
While strolling through the summer streets of Savannah, it’s not unusual to see Savannah Pre-apprentice participants working in the community.
SPAP participants Shar’quez Daughtry, 15, and Lorenzo Thorpe, 16, spent summer 2016 working with City of Savannah work crews. These first year SPAP participants used their talents to beautify Downtown Savannah. Some of their daily duties included cleaning and repainting trash cans the city’s famed squares.
Daughtry and Thorpe did not mind working hard to keep Savannah clean. Both teens said the wages where well worth it.
