SAVANNAH, GA (May 19, 2015): Savannah-Chatham Metropolitan Police are seeking information on the fatal shooting of a 16-year-old male early this morning in a public housing complex.

Anthony Crawford was transported to Memorial University Medical Center where he was declared dead after the 12:13 a.m. shooting.

He was found on the sidewalk of an apartment in the Fred Wessels homes at Burney Drive and East Oglethorpe Avenue when Downtown Precinct patrol officers responded to a ShotSpotter alert. The teen had a history with SCMPD and was treated for a non-life threatening gunshot wound on April 1 when he reported someone fired at him while he was riding his bicycle on the 1300 block of East 39th Street.

Violent Crimes detectives spent the night canvassing the area and trying to establish the crime scene.

Anyone with information on the case is asked to call Crimestoppers at (912) 234-2020 or text CRIMES (274637) using the keyword CSTOP2020. Tipsters remain anonymous and may qualify for a cash reward.

A Tip Line also is open directly to investigators at (912) 525-3124 and most area clergy have agreed to serve as liaisons for anyone who would like to share information with police anonymously.
