SAVANNAH, GA (April 5, 2012): Savannah-Chatham Metropolitan Police are seeking information on two shootings Wednesday night and this morning, one of which left the victim in critical condition.
Jason Roberson, 33, of a Garfield Street address, escaped life-threatening injuries and was transported to Memorial
University Medical Center by private vehicle after he was shot on the front porch of a house on East Gwinnet Street just before midnight.
Roberson was standing with others on the porch when a small car stopped in the street and a man stepped out with an assault rifle, fired several shots at the house and hit Roberson. The gunman reentered the car and fled.
In the second shooting James McKenith, 41, of a Longleaf Circle address in Pooler, was found with a life-threatening gunshot wound in Yamacraw Village just before 2 a.m.
He told police he was visiting an apartment and was knocking on the back door when a man in a white T-shirt walked up and shot him. He ran to another area of the complex before collapsing and was transported to Memorial where he is listed in critical condition after emergency surgery.
Police have no indication that the two cases are related. The SCMPD Criminal Investigations Division is continuing to investigate both shootings.
