SAVANNAH, GA (January 4, 2016): Savannah-Chatham Metropolitan Police Department’s Robbery Unit is searching for a suspect in a purse snatching that occurred on the east end of Forsyth Park Monday morning.
At approximately 10:30 a.m., Metro responded to a store on the 300 block of Gwinnett Street, where a 63-year-old woman sought aid after incident. Reportedly, the victim was walking near the east end of the park when she bent over to retrieve her cane. The victim’s purse was draped over her shoulder. A suspect then approached the victim, snatching her purse, after cutting the straps with a knife.
The suspect is described as a white male with unkempt blonde hair, standing around 5 feet 8 inches and weighing approximately 150 pounds. During the incident he wore a black jacket, blue jeans, yellow shirt, cowboy boots and a Steelers hat. He was last seen running north on Drayton Street.
