SAVANNAH, GA (March 17, 2013): Metro Police seeking one man on a murder charge arrested him and two others, and seized cash, drugs and stolen weapons in a combined effort with U.S. Marshals and TRAP officers.
Savannah-Chatham Metropolitan Police homicide detectives and Tactical Reaction and Prevention (TRAP) officers combined with the Marshals’ Southeastern Regional Felony Task Force to serve a search warrant at a house on the first block of Eagle Street. Chatham-Savannah Counter Narcotics Team (CNT) was called in to augment the investigation after the warrant was served.
Taken into custody were Izell Marketh Perry, 22, and Kevin Lamar Speaks, 31. They were being sought by detectives investigating the shooting death of Sidney Grant, 32, in front of Club Frozen on Indian Street March 16. Also arrested was Techina Denise Copeland, 28, who lived in the house where Perry and Speaks were found.
Perry has been charged with Grant’s murder. He has arrest records with SCMPD dating back to 2008, including aggravated battery, aggravated assault, obstruction and terroristic threats and acts.
Speaks, who was being sought for questioning in the investigation of Grant’s homicide, is being held on two contempt of court charges and a probation violation. His record with SCMPD extends to 1999 and includes possession, three obstruction charges and four probation violations.
Copeland, the resident of the house, has been charged with trafficking in cocaine over 28 grams, possession of marijuana, possession of tools for the commission of a crime, and theft by receiving stolen property.
Officers also seized more than $11,000 in cash, more than a pound of illegal drugs and three weapons determined to have been stolen.
Grant, himself, was being sought for questioning in the shooting deaths of Michael Biancosino, 30, and Emily Pickels, 21, who were shot while driving in front of her residence on West Henry Street on Sept. 1, 2012. Since his death, the investigation has confirmed Grant was in fact the shooter in that case. Homicide investigators are now focused on any other parties involved.
SCMPD homicide detectives continue to investigate.
