SAVANNAH, GA (December 24, 2015): Savannah-Chatham Metropolitan Police are seeking information on a robbery at a store on the 3200 block of Montgomery Street, at about 9:54 p.m. on Wednesday.
Metro officers responded to reports that a male suspect armed with a gun entered the store demanding cash from workers. Staff members complied. The suspect fled the scene in a white Toyota Camry waiting outside. There were no reported injuries.
A description of the suspect’s getaway vehicle was broadcasted to officers by SCMPD dispatchers. A Metro unit spotted the Camry and followed it before striking a tree near O’Bryne Street and Atlanta Avenue. The suspect and the driver of the getaway car continued on O’Byrne Street until losing control of the vehicle near Dixon Lane. Both suspects fled the vehicle on foot. Metro K9s searched the area. The suspects remain at large. No injuries were reported.
The vehicle was recovered and contained evidence linking it to the robbery. Investigators also learned that the vehicle was reported stolen on Monday.
The robbery suspect is described as a black male wearing a hooded camouflage jacket, a camouflage glove, grey jeans and black shoes. The suspect also wore a face covering during the crime. The getaway driver’s description is unknown.
