SAVANNAH, GA (September 19, 2022): Today Savannah Police Department initiated termination proceedings for an officer, following an investigation and subsequent arrest in connection to a domestic-related incident that occurred earlier this month.
Keith Lemarcus Roland, 23, has been employed with SPD since March 2020 and was assigned to the Central Precinct.
On Sept. 8, SPD was notified of a domestic dispute involving Roland at a residence in the Chatham County Police Department’s jurisdiction. CCPD launched an investigation into the incident. Upon learning of the details of the incident, SPD immediately placed Roland on administrative leave and launched an administrative investigation with its Internal Affairs Division.
Today Chatham County Police Department arrested Roland on charges of aggravated assault-DVA and terroristic threats-DVA.
The conduct uncovered in this investigation aligns with neither SPD’s values nor its ethical standard. Consequently, the determination was made to end Roland’s employment with the department. SPD remains committed to transparency and accountability. This notification is made pursuant to those commitments.
