SAVANNAH, GA (June 1, 2022): Savannah Police detectives arrested a suspect in a May 31 domestic-related shooting on Jan Street that resulted in injuries to a man in the home.
At noon officers responded to a shooting at a residence in the 5600 block of Jan Street. The 51-year-old male victim was transported to a hospital by private vehicle and treated for non-life threatening injuries. Detectives quickly determined the shooting was the result of a dispute in the home that escalated to a shooting.
Kenneth Jamal Washington, 20, turned himself in to detectives later that day. Washington was booked into the Chatham County jail on charges of aggravated assault – DVA, aggravated battery – DVA, possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime, and battery – DVA.
