SAVANNAH – The Savannah Police Department has arrested 26-year-old Maalik Frazier in connection to a fatal shooting that occurred on March 1 in the 10 block of Echols Ave. and resulted in the death of an adult male. Frazier was taken into custody on April 9 by the Savannah Police, SPD Strategic Investigations Unit, and U.S. Marshals.
On March 1, officers responded to a report of a shooting in the area at approximately 12:45 a.m. Upon arrival, officers encountered the victim, who had sustained multiple gunshot wounds. He was transported by EMS to Memorial Health University Medical Center, where he ultimately succumbed to his injuries. Initial investigation and witness interviews identified the suspect vehicle. After working through the night, detectives identified Maalik Frazier as a suspect and obtained warrants for his arrest.
Frazier was apprehended on April 9 in the area of Wheaton St. and Waters Ave. He has been charged with felony murder, three counts of aggravated assault, and possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime.
