SAVANNAH – The Savannah Police Department has arrested 51-year-old Weldon Roberts in connection to a July 8 shooting in the 600 block of W. 31st St., which resulted in an adult male sustaining an injury to his leg. Roberts turned himself into the Chatham County Detention Center on July 9.
On July 8 at approximately 5:16 p.m., Central Precinct officers responded to a shooting in the area. Upon arrival, officers located the injured victim. He was transported by EMS to Memorial Health University Medical Center for treatment. Through the combined assistance of the community, public safety partners, and SPD investigative measures, the suspect was identified and eventually turned himself in.
Roberts was charged with aggravated assault and possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime.
