SAVANNAH, GA. (April 25, 2023): Savannah Police Department continues to seek suspects in a reported kidnapping and aggravated assault on a police officer that occurred April 24.
Around 5 p.m. officers responded to Lloyd Street for a reported kidnapping case. Officers located the suspect vehicle, which had been reported stolen out of Fayetteville, N.C., and attempted a traffic stop. The vehicle fled. While an SPD officer pursued the vehicle in the area of 35th and Habersham streets, a male passenger fired several shots out of the vehicle toward the police cruiser. The patrol vehicle was struck several times, but the officer was uninjured. The suspect vehicle fled and was later located unoccupied on E. 35th St.
Officers soon after located the adult female victim unharmed on Hamilton Street.
SPD SWAT searched the area for several hours but were unable to locate the suspects. The investigation remains ongoing.
