UPDATE (April 6, 2022): SPD detectives identified a suspect in an April 1 shooting that resulted in injuries to a 31-year-old man who was driven by private vehicle to Candler Hospital after being shot. Eric Kelvin Scott Jr., 36, was booked into the Chatham County jail on April 5 on charges of aggravated assault, aggravated battery and cruelty to children third degree. Through the course of the investigation, detectives identified the shooting location as the 800 block of Cubbage Street.
SAVANNAH, GA. (April 4, 2022): The Savannah Police Department is investigating unrelated shootings that occurred this weekend, resulting in two arrests.
Around 7:15 p.m. April 1 officers responded to Lake Mayer and discovered a 20-year-old man suffering from non-life-threatening gunshot wounds. He was transported to Memorial Medical Center for treatment. Detectives continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the shooting.
Around 9:40 p.m. April 1 a 31-year-old man arrived at Candler Hospital by private vehicle. He was suffering from non-life-threatening gunshot wounds. Detectives continue to investigate to determine the location where the victim was struck. Preliminary information indicates the shooting was connected to an earlier domestic-related dispute.
Around 2:20 p.m. April 2, officers responded to the 2000 block of Indiana Avenue for a ShotSpotter alert and discovered a 36-year-old man gunshot wounds. He was transported to Memorial Medical Center for treatment of serious injuries. Detectives were quickly able to identify Javon Roberson as a suspect. Roberson, 18, was booked into the Chatham County jail on five counts of aggravated assault and a single count of cruelty to children second degree.
Around 2 p.m. April 3, officers responded to Skidaway Road at Victory Drive for reports of a gun discharge, but no victim could be located. Sometime later a 35-year-old man arrived at Memorial Medical Center suffering from a non-life-threatening gunshot wound. Detectives determined the victim had been shot while traveling in the Skidaway and Victory area shortly after being involved in a dispute with another man at a nearby convenience store. Detectives quickly identified Trenton Howard-Ward as the suspect in the investigation. Howard-Ward, 23, was booked into the Chatham County jail on charges of aggravated assault and cruelty to children third degree.
At this point, there is no indication that any of the incidents are related.
