Update: William Anthony Mitchell, 20, has been arrested in connection with the shooting in Ellis Square on May 18. He was taken into custody by the Savannah Police on May 21. He has been charged with 4 counts of aggravated assault and 4 counts of possession of firearm during commission of or attempt to commit certain crimes.
All victims from this incident have been treated and released from Memorial Health University Medical Center.
Savannah Police detectives continue to actively investigate this incident and ask that anyone with information contacts CrimeStoppers at 912-234-2020 or submits an anonymous tip through the Savannah PD mobile app. Multiple persons of interest are being sought.
SAVANNAH –Savannah police detectives are investigating a May 18 shooting in Ellis Square that left multiple people with gunshot wounds.
Multiple precincts responded at 11:55 p.m. to reports of gunfire in Ellis Square. The scene was secured, and multiple injured parties were located by officers. First aid was provided, and several were transported to Memorial Health University Medical Center.
In all, 11 adult victims were treated for injuries. As of now, no deaths have occurred because of the incident.
Police were able to interview numerous witnesses and collect evidence at the scene. The investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information should call CrimeStoppers, 912-234-2020.
