SAVANNAH, GA (August 30, 2022): Savannah Police detectives have arrested a 16-year-old in connection to the Aug. 29 shooting death of a 2-year-old girl at a home on Alaska Street.
Around 4:30 p.m. officers responded to a residence in the 2100 block of Alaska Street and discovered Lauren Barton suffering from a gunshot wound. She was transported to a hospital where she died as a result of the incident.
The teen boy, who fled from the home immediately following the shooting, was located soon after the incident. As a result of the investigation, the suspect, whose name is not being released at this time, was booked into RYDC on charges of murder second degree and cruelty to children second degree.
The investigation remains ongoing.
