SAVANNAH,GA ( March 1, 2011) The Savannah-Chatham Metro Police Department is offering the State certified Boating Safety Course and it is free and open to the public. The classes are held the third Saturday of every month and upon completion you will receive a boating safety card and could receive a discount on your insurance.
The minimum age for enrolment is 12. The Boating Safety Class is a great opportunity to learn about the laws and requirements that apply to minors and watercraft. General safety and Georgia State Laws are discussed in this 8-hour class. For more information or to sign up call 912-921-5451 Monday–Friday between 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m.
- The class includes the latest information on Georgia law and Coast Guard policy. This is a classroom-only course and does not include on-the-water instruction. You will receive a workbook to keep for your reference after the class is over.
- National Association Of State Boating Law Administrators (NASBLA) certified boating safety course
- All graduates will receive a wallet card and a certificate that can be framed. We recommend that you laminate the wallet card. Boat insurance companies may give you a discount on your boat insurance for being a graduate of this class.
- 2011 training dates: April 16, May 21, June 18, July 16, August 20, September 17, October 15, November 19. ( Classes will be limited to a minimum of 5 and a maximum of 30 persons)
