UPDATE (June 10, 2021): Anthony Green, 44, was booked into the Chatham County jail June 9 on charges of malice murder, felony murder, aggravated assault and possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime in connection to the Aug. 31, 2019 fatal shooting on Frederick Smith on Bull Street. SPD detectives identified Green as a suspect in the shooting, and in February 2021 the case was presented to the grand jury, resulting in a bench warrant for Green’s arrest. On June 9, the Southeast Regional Fugitive Task Force and Georgia State Patrol located and apprehended Green.
SAVANNAH, GA (September 1, 2019) – Savannah Police Violent Crimes detectives are investigating a shooting that claimed the life of a 48-year-old male on Saturday, August 31.
At approximately 2:35 p.m., officers responded to the 4200 block of Bull Street on report of a shooting. Upon arrival, officers located shooting victim, Frederick Smith. Smith was transported to the hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.
A person of interest was on scene and detained for questioning. Detectives are continuing to investigate this homicide.
