SAVANNAH – On Nov. 12, Marcus Thomas, 18, was apprehended by the U.S. Marshals Service in connection with a September fatal shooting in the 700 block of W. 57th St. In connection with the same case, Caesar Thompkins Jr., 18, turned himself in to the US Marshals on Nov. 13.
Thomas has been charged with murder, conspiracy to commit a felony, and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony. Thompkins has been charged with murder and conspiracy to commit a felony.
On Sept. 18 at approximately 3:36 p.m., officers responded to reports of a shooting at W. 57th St. Upon arrival, they discovered an unresponsive juvenile inside a residence who was suffering from a gunshot wound. Officers also conducted a traffic stop at W. 63rd St. and Montgomery St. on a vehicle leaving the scene. Thomas, who had sustained a non-life-threatening gunshot wound, was found in the vehicle. EMS responded and transported both individuals to Memorial Health University Medical Center for treatment, where the juvenile ultimately succumbed to his injury.
