SAVANNAH,GA ( April 27, 2012) At least 35 law enforcement officers and family members of officers killed in the line of duty will be bicycling their way through the Savannah area on Tuesday to help raise money for those killed in the line of duty.
The First Leg of the Law Enforcement United (LEU), referred to as FLETC Long Ride, should hit Savannah about 11 a.m. as more than 30 bicyclists begin the trek from Brunswick to Washington, D.C.
Riders will start the trip at the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center in Brunswick and are expected to be joined by others along the route until some 350 peddle into Washington on May 13.
Savannah-Chatham Metropolitan Police will escort the procession through Chatham County with a stop for lunch at the Fraternal Order of Police Lodge on Grove Point Road.
The goal of the riders is to raise $200,000 for the Officer Down Memorial Page (ODMP) and Concerns of Police Survivors (COPS.)
