SAVANNAH, GA (April 26, 2016): Violent Crimes detectives of Savannah-Chatham Metropolitan Police Department have initiated a death investigation after human remains were found at a West Chatham County farm just before 5 p.m. on April 25.
Metro officers responded to the scene on the 200 Buckhalter Road, after the property owner and an employee reported finding human bones near a dirt road on the south side of the property. A property manager found the remains while checking the grounds after a recent clearing of several trees and overgrowth.
Metro’s Criminal Investigations Division, Patrol and Forensics units responded to the scene, along with the Chatham County Coroner.
An autopsy will be conducted at the Georgia Bureau of Investigations Crime Lab to determine the decedent’s gender and manner of death.
This investigation continues.
