SAVANNAH, GA (October 25, 2010): Savannah-Chatham Metropolitan Police have interviewed several witnesses in a shooting that left one man dead and a second injured and have determined that all participants were known to each other and that the shooting was drug related.
Officers responded to Gordonston and Pennsylvania avenues about 7:35 p.m. Friday after receiving reports of shots fired. Metro Dispatch then requested units at the 2100 block of California Avenue in reference to a shooting.
There, officers found a black Ford Explorer parked in the middle of the street with its lights off and its doors open. Officers located two males that had been shot, Cameron Simmons, 19, and Eric Roberts, 18.
EMS was requested and transported both victims to Memorial Health University Hospital. Simmons was pronounced dead at the hospital, Roberts was treated and released.
The investigation continues as leads, witnesses and possible suspects continue to be developed.
