SAVANNAH, GA (October 16, 2010): Savannah-Chatham Metropolitan Police have one man in custody after he shoots a co-worker and flees from police.
Just after 6:30 p.m., officers were dispatched to Ma Randy’s Restaurant, located at 7010 Skidaway Road, after receiving calls of a shooting.
Witnesses told police that a verbal altercation escalated and Michael Grant, 51, shot his co-worker John Cornish, 34, several times.
GRANT fled the area and was observed by Officer McNamara as he traveled westbound on DeRenne Avenue, near Reynolds Street. Officers followed the vehicle and attempted to stop it. GRANT refused to stop and officers pursued the vehicle until GRANT jumped out and fled on foot. He was taken into custody after a short foot pursuit on Atlanta Street just off Lamar Street.
The victim John Cornish was transported to Memorial Health Center with multiple gunshot wounds.
