SAVANNAH, GA. (Sept. 21,2014): Traffic officers from the Savannah-Chatham Metropolitan Police Department are investigating the death of a Savannah man following the crash of the motorcycle he was riding on Montgomery Cross Road Saturday night.
Bryan Kelly Sikes, 42, was declared dead at the scene just east of Sallie Mood Drive about 11 p.m.
The 1999 Suzuki motorcycle he was riding was traveling east on Montgomery Cross Road when he lost control and struck the south curbing of the roadway. The motorcycle traveled off of the south side of the roadway and tumbled through the grass shoulder before coming to rest in a parking lot, leaving the rider in the right east bound lane.
An 81-year-old Savannah man traveling east on Montgomery Crossroads in the right lane was not able to stop or avoid running over the body in the roadway.
The collision continues to be investigated by the Major Accident Investigation Team (MAIT).
