SAVANNAH, GA (June 14, 2013): Two missing Savannah children have been found safe, and their mother arrested in Louisiana following nearly a month-long investigation by Savannah-Chatham Metropolitan Special Victims detectives and the FBI.
At 5:40 p.m. Thursday, 31-year-old Marcelle Jefferies and her daughters Gracie Lynn Jefferies, 2, and 4-month-old Shiloh Isaacs were located during a traffic stop in New Orleans. New Orleans Police took the elder Jefferies into custody after determining her vehicle was reported stolen in Florida; and she had outstanding warrants for interference with custody issued by SCMPD and the FBI.
Both children’s next of kin were notified. Their mother is being held by the Orleans Parish Sheriff’s Office awaiting extradition to Chatham County.
In May, Jefferies and her children were reported missing when she left a family member’s residence with the elder child without the custodial parent’s consent.
