SAVANNAH, GA. (March 28, 2016): Savannah-Chatham Metropolitan Police Department’s Violent Crimes detectives are investigating a Monday afternoon shooting on Waters Avenue and East 34th that claimed the life of Halinton Williams, 35.
The shooting was reported at about 1:35 p.m. Officers responded to the scene, where Williams was found with a gunshot wound. He was transported by ambulance to Memorial University Medical Center where he later died.
Reportedly, Williams and a companion were walking east on 34th Street when an unknown subject approached and opened fire. The suspect is believed to have fled the area on foot.
Investigators are working to identify the suspect.
