SAVANNAH, GA (August 9, 2016): Savannah-Chatham Metropolitan Police Department are investigating a shooting on the 600 block of E 39th Street that injured Jermaine Hodges, 25, late Monday night.
At about 11:30 p.m. Metro responded to Memorial University Medical Center where Hodges arrived in a privately owned vehicle, seeking care of a non-life threatening gunshot wound.
Hodges was reportedly shot while walking on East 39th Street, where he encountered a male suspect who initiated a verbal altercation. The suspect reportedly robbed and shot Hodges before fleeing.
The suspect is described as a black male in his mid-20s, with a dark complexion standing 5-9, and weighing about 200 pounds. The suspect has a box haircut.
Circumstances surrounding this shooting remain under investigation. Detectives believe the victim and suspect may be acquainted.
