SAVANNAH, GA (June 5, 2016): Savannah-Chatham Metropolitan Police Department’s Major Accident Investigations Team (MAIT) responded to Interstate 16’s westbound 37th St Connector, where a Brooklet man was injured in single-vehicle accident at about 1:45 a.m. on Sunday, June 5.
Tyler Chilen, 24, was driving toward westbound I-16 from the 37th Street entry ramp in a 2006 Land Rover LR3. For unknown reasons, Chilen drove off the roadway into the center median, striking a tree head-on. Savannah Fire Department responded to the scene to extricate Chilen from the vehicle. Chilen was then transported by ambulance to Memorial University Medical Center for treatment of serious but non-life threatening injuries.
There were no passengers in Chilen’s vehicle. No other injuries were reported.
This collision remains under review by MAIT.
