SAVANNAH, GA (May 5, 2015) Savannah-Chatham Metropolitan Police are requesting the public’s help in identifying and locating a male who attempted to kidnap a15-year-old girl on Wilmington Island this afternoon.
The girl was returning home from school, walking near Steerforth Road and Hampshire Drive about 4:20 p.m. when a male drove up in a white SUV and stopped. He exited the vehicle, grabbed the girl’s arm and ordered her to get in his vehicle.
The teen-ager kicked the suspect and escaped. The SUV left, turning right on Steerforth towards Walthour Road.
The suspect was described as a tanned white male or a Hispanic male, approximately 6-feet tall, with black hair, a mustache and short beard. He was wearing blue gym shorts and a black short sleeve shirt. His vehicle was an older white SUV, possibly a Toyota Sequoya.
Anyone with information on the suspect and/or the SUV is asked to call Emergency 911 or Crimestoppers at (912) 234-2020 or text CRIMES (274637) using the keyword CSTOP2020. Tipsters remain anonymous and may qualify for a cash reward.
